Obituary for Wood

William "Bill" F. Wood Jr., 71, a resident of Belen, NM, passed away on Tuesday, November 6, 2001. Bill proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. He retired after 35 years of distinguished service with the New Mexico National Guard as a CW4 Chief Warrant Officer. He was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church and the Belen Moose Lodge. He was an avid bowler belonging to two different leagues with the Men's Bowling Association. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Nora Wood; his first wife, Carmen; his son, Patrick; and his second wife, Luetta. He is survived by his special friend and companion, Mary Diliberti; his son, Philip Wood and his wife, Alice of Clovis, NM; two daughters, Ann Smith and her husband, David and Barbara Morgan and her husband, Greg all of Belen, NM; his loving grandchildren, Barbara Sue Jones, Jennifer Silva, Melissa Lechuga, Kimberly Nunn, Beverly Wood, Gabe Yalch, Laura Wood, and Hailey Morgan; two great grandsons, Austen and Hunter Jones; his stepchildren, Freida Bryant, Barbara Ashcraft, Peggy Allen and Roy and Rosie Wise; his numerous stepgrandchildren and his sister, Roberta McLean of Anchorage, AK. He is also survived by his special brother-in-law, Rev. Jacob Joerger; and his sisters-in-law, Ruth Sadowski and her husband, Alexander, and Verena Urbigkiet and her husband, Art, and Columba Reid and her husband, Richard. A Viewing will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, November 9, 2001 at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church with a Rosary following at 6:00 p.m.. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 10, 2001 at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church with Rev. Jacob Joerger as Celebrant. Interment will follow at the Terrace Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Smith, Greg Morgan, Jacob Lechuga, Quarai Silva, GT Nunn, Paul Jones, and Gabe Yalch. Romero Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
