Obituary for Harris

Juanita L. Harris, 84, was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii and moved to Albuquerque in 1992. She died November 5, 2001 after a long illness. Mrs. Harris was born on December 23, 1916, the youngest child of Ruth Lo Lum-King and Lum Mun King. She graduated from the University of Hawaii and became a dedicated teacher - Home Economics on the islands of Hawaii and Maui, Band at Kawananakoa Intermediate School and Strings at several elementary schools on Oahu. She was the church organist and choir director at several churches on Oahu and often accompanied her husband, a tenor, when he sang at church services, weddings and funerals. Mrs. Harris spent 14 years in Maryland where she received her Masters Degree from the University of Maryland in Music Education and continued to teach music in the Maryland school system. She instilled the love of music in her two daughters, who are both professional musicians. She is survived by her husband, Yeuell Harris of Albuquerque; two daughters, Jerrilyn Ewing Foster of Albuquerque and Charlyn Campbell of Denver; and five grandchildren, Scott, Chris and Brad Campbell and Travis and Allison Ewing. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 10, 2001 St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1100 Indian School NE. Contributions in memory of Juanita L.
