Obituary for Lopez

Ernesto P. Lopez 77, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend was called home to be with the Lord, Thursday, April 5, 2001. Mr. Lopez was life long resident of Albuquerque; he was a proud United States Army veteran who served his country during World War II as a ranger with General Patton, he made the D Day Landing; and was awarded five Major Battle Stars and the Purple Heart. Ernesto was a life time member the the American Legion Post 13, life time member of the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter III, and a life time member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mr. Lopez is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Mary McDonald Lopez of the family home; his children, Albert E. Lopez and wife, Diane, Edward Lopez and Trina, Johnny Lopez and wife, Helen, Jerry Lopez and wife, Debbie, Ernie Lopez and wife, Cathy, Rosie Fernandez and husband, Ramon, Pauline Baldonado and husband, Leroy, Debbie Lopez and Alice Flores; 21 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Amado Lopez of Albuquerque, Manuel Lopez of Syracuse, NY; one sister, Mary Abeyta and husband, Monico of Alameda; and a host of friends. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and those who knew and loved him. Visitations will be today from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Alameda Mortuary, where a Rosary will be recited at 4:00 p.m. this afternoon. Final viewing will be Monday afternoon from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Alameda Mortuary. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Anthony Lopez, Pancho Lopez, Manny Lopez, Marty Abeyta, Jacob Lopez and Vincent Fernandez. Military Honors will be accorded by the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter III. Funeral services are entrusted to Alameda Mortuary, 9420 4th Street NW.
