Obituary for Jonas

Ret. MSGT Charles W. Jonas died on April 5, 2001 in Albuquerque, NM. He was born to Della May Marshbank and William Jonas on October 12, 1915 in Van Buren, MO. He was the youngest of five children. In early 1940, he joined the Army and was sent to Los Alamos and Kirtland Air Force Base. He served with Company C, 766th Military Police Battalion Division in Europe during World War II, in Turkey for one year, and in the Korean War on two different assignments. For many years, he was a mall walker where he enjoyed visiting with many friends. He is survived by his wife, Nellie Jonas; daughter, Jo Ann Youngman; granddaughter, De Lonna Owens and husband Brian; sister, Opal White of Van Buren, MO; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 9, 2001 at Chapel of Sandia, 7601 Wyoming Blvd NE, with Pastor Rick Donaho of New Covenant Church officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Quality Continuum Hospice.
