Obituary for Galvin

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday April 08, 2001

May 25, 1920 - April 5, 2001 Doris was raised in Springer, NM and went to Ottawa University in Kansas where she received her BS in Biology, and later went to USC for an RN in nursing. She was the Guadalupe County nurse in Santa Rosa, NM where she met and married Dr. John Galvin. In 1968 the family moved to Albuquerque where Doris was a school nurse for APS at Eugene Field, Bellehaven, Eubank and Grant Schools until her retirement in 1985. Doris was a courageous woman who took great care of her children after John's early death in 1972. She is survived by her three children, Jolynn, John, and Jerald Galvin; her son-in-law, Steven Hooper; and her grandson, Patrick Hooper. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Ruth Martin; her brother, Ray Martin; and her husband, Dr. John Galvin. The family wishes to thank our brother, John and Susie Vacante who took great loving care of Doris. Their devotion and humor with Doris kept her with us much longer than it might have been without their help. Doris has been cremated. A Memorial Celebration for family and friends will be announced. Her cremains will be buried with her husband John at Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM with the time to be announced later. Sandia Funeral Care, 7601 Wyoming Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM, 821-0010.
