Obituary for Jentgen

Lillian Ester Jentgen, former resident of Roswell, passed away on Tuesday, November 20, 2001 at the La Vida Llena Retirement Community in Albuquerque. She was 87 years of age. Lillian will be cremated in Albuquerque under the direction of the Sunrise Society of NM. Burial will be next to her husband at the South Park Cemetery in Roswell, NM on November 24, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. Lillian Ester (Nicholson) Jentgen was born April 11, 1914 in Evanston, WY. She was the daughter of Glenn Albert Nicholson and Rose (Snow) Nicholson. While still a young child, Lillian's family moved by train and covered wagon to a family homestead 15 miles SE of Elida, NM. She graduated from Elida High School and graduated in 1937 from NM A&M College with a degree in Home Economics. She worked for the State Extension office as a Home Demonstration Agent for Dona Ana County until her marriage to Walter F. Jentgen, on May 4, 1940. The couple made their first home in Portales and later moved to other communities in NM and West, TX until settling in Roswell, NM in 1959 where Mr. Jentgen managed the Clardy-Campbell Dairy. After Mr. Jentgen's death in 1987, Lillian moved to La Vida Llena Retirement Community. Lillian was an accomplished seamstress and wonderful cook and devoted her life to her home, husband and raising their three children. She was active in the Roswell Community and over the years offered her time and creative talents to many social and service organizations. She attended the St. Peters Catholic Church with her family and later became a member of the First United Methodist Church. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Blanton and her husband, Bert of Ponca City, OK; sons, Russell Jentgen and his wife, Dinah of Las Cruces, NM, Larry Jentgen and wife, Cindy of Tucson, AZ; brother, Earnest Nicholson and wife, Mariam of Littleton, CO; special cousin, Charles Hoehner and wife, Eva of Bellingham, WA; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society. Cremation arrangements by the Sunrise Society of NM, 891-8200.
