Thomas Edward McLemore 25 March 1916 - 9 November 2001Thomas Edward McLemore, an Alamogordo resident since 1956, passed on Friday, 9 November 2001. The eldest of eight children, he was born 25 March 1916, at home in Adair County, Oklahoma to Chester and Polly McLemore. Mr. McLemore attended Dwight Mission Presbyterian School until the eighth grade and graduated from Cave Springs High School in Adair County, Northeastern Oklahoma in 1937. He graduated from Haskell Institute Junior College in Lawrence, Kansas in 1939. He excelled in sports, winning the Missouri Valley Conference and the Arkansas Valley Conference in tennis. Mr. McLemore served with the 45th Division of Oklahoma and worked for the BIA. He also saw service with the military during W.W.II. Mr. McLemore was a member of the Presbyterian Church, the Disabled American Veterans, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a member of the Cherokee Nation. He was employed at Holoman Air Force Base until his retirement from civil service in 1983. Mr. McLemore was a Veteran, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Juanita Mary McLemore; daughters, Frances M. Fisk and husband, Frank B. Fisk III, of Albuquerque, and Barbara McLemore of Alamogordo; three brothers, Scott McLemore of Lakewood, Colorado, Wallace McLemore of Hulbert, Oklahoma and French McLemore of Stoneshore, Oklahoma; three sisters, Irene Luce and Lois Mays of Stillwell, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Johna M. Harrison of Alto, Frank Fisk IV of Albuquerque, and Tammara M. Chaffee of Elgin, TX; two great-grandchildren, Zane Thomas and Hendrix Loretta Chaffee; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Osie, Haskell, and Martin McLemore; and sister, Sara Elizabeth McLemore. Mr. McLemore was a devoted sports fan; his hobbies were fishing, reading, and golf, and in his younger years traveling. He loved his family, holidays and family celebrations. He will be greatly missed. Cremation has taken place. Final Resting place will be the Santa Fe National Cemetery. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, 24 November 2001 at the Grace United Methodist Church in Alamogordo, New Mexico.
