Obituary for Jones

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Thursday November 22, 2001

Reginald Arthur Jones, age 91, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 19, 2001, with his loving family by his side. Reggie was born in Ridgedale, Saskatchewan, Canada, to Alice Grace Lowe and Benjamin Arthur Jones. He is survived by Erma Boyd Jones, his wife of 67 years; son, Reginald B. Jones; and daughter, Norma L. Milligin, both of Sunnyvale, California. He was a wonderful grandfather to Reginald Benjamin Arthur, James Michael, Katherine Erma, Gregory Paul, Michael Stephen, and Amber Lynn; and loving great-grandfather to Briana, Brandon, Corina, Aaron and Carolyn. Reg was a machinist graduate of Henry Ford Trade School in Detroit, Michigan. He went on to become a Journeyman Tool and Dye Maker for over 40 years, finishing his career and retiring from Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory where he had worked on many specialized research projects. He was highly-talented and taught machining skills to many young machinists during his career--even authoring a technical book,"Radius Turning On A Milling Machine." Reggie lived first in Corrales and later Bernalillo after retiring from Los Alamos. He built two homes, traveled widely around the U.S. and spent lots of time with children and grandchildren in California. He celebrated his 90th birthday and his English heritage by having"High Tea" at the Empress Hotel during a brief trip to Victoria, Canada. Reg will be remembered by family, friends, and neighbors as exceptionally kind, ready to help, always joking and infinitely patient. He will be greatly missed. A Memorial Service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 23, at Sandia Funeral Care, 7601 Wyoming Blvd NE, Albuquerque. Friends are welcome to attend.
