James C. Spurgeon, 86, a resident of Rio Rancho from 1988 to 1999. James passed away on Thursday, March 1, 2001 in Columbus, Ohio. He had moved to Ohio after his wife, Helen passed away. He was born May 10, 1914 the son of William and Jessie Ray Spurgeon in West Virginia. He had been in Industial Relations with the B. F. Goodrich and North American Rockewll before retiring. James was preceded in death by his wife, Helen in July 1999. He is survived by his children, Thomas E. Spurgeon of Dublin, OH, Nancy Whitman and husband, Thomas of Doylestown, OH, James (Bill) Spurgeon and wife, Judy of San Marcos, CA, Marilyn J. Wilder and husband, Walter of Kettering, OH, Judy Smith of Burbank, CA, and Dr. Gerald Lesniak of Billingham, WA; two sisters; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held today, Monday, March 5, 2001 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Parlor of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho with the Service on Tuesday, March 6, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, with Pastor Rick Donaho officiating. Entombment will follow in Vista Verde Memorial Park. Arrangements by Vista Verde Mortuary, Rio Rancho.
