Obituary for Tortoreto

Josephine (Pina Paterno) Tortoreto, 92, was called home to be with her Lord and Saviour on Thursday, December 20, 2001. She was born in New York City on November 29, 1909, first generation born of Italian immigrants. Beloved by family and friends, she will be remembered for her generous spirit and her deep faith and trust in the Lord. She was a former opera singer with the Chicago, San Carlo and San Francisco Opera Company. She moved to Albuquerque in 1980 from Los Angeles and volunteered with the UNM Maternity and Infant Care Program, was a member of Holy Child Catholic Church and an active member of the Senior Center at St. Bernadette's Catholic Church. She will be dearly remembered by her two daughters, Camilla Rowe and Maria Duran, son-in-laws, Warren Rowe and Donald R. Duran, grandchildren, Victoria Rowe, Daniel Rowe and wife, Shannon, Adriana Roze and husband, David, Christina O'Connell and husband, Brian, Gabriella Duran and John Duran, and she was blessed with great-grandchildren, Isabella and Nathaniel Rowe, and Julia and Evan O'Connell. Rosary will be held Sunday, December 23, 2001, 4:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated, Monday, December 24, 2001, 10:00 a.m., Holy Child Catholic Church, 19 A Camino del Santo Nino, Tijeras, NM, with Father John Carney, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to Eternal Word Television Network, 5817 Old Leeds Roads, Irondale, AL, 35210. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. one hour prior to Rosary.
