Obituary for Richie

Fritz Richie, 87, a resident of New Mexico since 1949, passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2003. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Marilyn Richie; daughter, Carol Jackson and husband James; granddaughter, Sarah Jackson; sister, Bobbie Egly of California; nephews, Mike Moore and wife, Darlene of Los Lunas and J. Roy Richie of Melvin, TX; and other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and two sisters. Fritz was a 50-year member of Carpenters Local Union 1319 in Albuquerque. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the 23rd Infantry Division and took part in the invasion on Omaha Beach. Fritz was awarded the Purple Heart, an Oakleaf Cluster, and a Combat Infantry Badge. He retired from the University of New Mexico in 1980. Fritz was a member of Good News Baptist Church in Los Lunas. Services were held Friday, 2:00 p.m., at the Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum Chapel, at Sunset Memorial Park, with Pastor John Richards officiating. Entombment followed the service.
