Obituary for West

Lewis S. West, Sr., 82, was called to his heavenly home Monday, February 24, 2003. He was born in Texas but was raised in Pie Town, NM and moved to Albuquerque in 1947. He is survived by his wife, Joanna; daughter, A'Dana Fowler and husband, Wayne, all of Albuquerque; son, Pastor Sid West and wife, Peggy, of Los Lunas, NM; grandchildren, Jerry Edmond Welch, Amy Welch and fiancée, Justin Wittosch; Kandy Behn and husband, Dr. Kevin Behn; Cindy Fletcher and husband, Brian Fletcher and Christina West and fiancée, Steven Bentley; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Weldon West and wife, Bonnie; Curtis West, Herschel West and wife, Joy, and Otho West and wife, Virginia; sisters, Inez Moore and Vivian Vaughn; sister-in-law, Bobbi West; and many, many relatives and friends and his church family at Sandia Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Grover and Ada West; sisters, Shirley Campbell and Zona Gish and brother, Elmo West. Mr. West was a Veteran of WWII and retired from the motor pool at Sandia National Labs after 34 years. Services will be held Saturday, March 1, 2003, 1:00 p.m. at Sandia Baptist Church, 9429 Constitution Ave. NE with Dr. Robert Butler and Pastor Sid West officiating. Interment will take place Monday, March 3, 2003, 11:00 a.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM. Pallbearers will be Dr. Kevin Behn, Ed Welch, Steven Bentley, Justin Wittosch, Tad West and Truman West. Honorary Pallbearers will be Weldon West, Curtis West, Herschel West, Otho West, Alvin Farmer, Sam Blaylock, Kenneth Nicholson, Bill Wadley and Brian Fletcher. Friends may visit French Mortuary 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, Friday, February 28, 2003, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
