Gilbert Martinez, 72, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2003. Gilbert is preceded in death by his father, Jose S.; mother, Josefita; mother-in-law, Demetria A. Lente; sons, Anthony and Danny. Gilbert is survived by his wife of 24 years, Mary, of the family home; sons, John, Anthony, David, Ricky, Pete, Jessie, Gilbert Jr., Anthony Jr., Ray, Manny, G.J., and Jerry; daughters, Debbie, Teresa, Patricia, Rosemary, Barbara, and Sylvia; brothers, Willie, Bennie, Joe, and Richard; sisters, Margaret, Theresa, Gloria, Nora and Georgia; 29 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; many other friends and family that loved and will miss him. Services will be at San Jose Catholic Parish, 2401 Broadway Blvd SE. A Rosary will be recited on Tuesday, February 11, 2003 at 7:00 p.m., a second Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, February 12, 2003 at 7:00pm. A mass will be celebrated on Thursday, February 13, 2003, at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow at San Jose de Armijo Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Albino, Michael, Eric, Ricky Jr., Victor and Pete.
