Obituary for Downing

Our beloved, Ellen J. Downing went with the dear Lord on Sunday, February 2, 2003. She was surrounded by her loving family at the time of her death. Ellen was born in Shoemaker, New Mexico and was raised in Watrous, New Mexico. She was a longtime resident of Albuquerque. Ellen was a devoted wife, sister, Godmother, aunt and friend. She was a retired registered nurse of 27 years. Ellen was a dedicated member of the Duke City Sams Club and American Legion. She enjoyed ceramics and spending time with family. She was a lifelong Catholic, belonged to St. Charles and San Martin parish. Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, Dionicio and Lizzie Dominguez, sisters, Antonia and Rosie; brothers, Freddie, Margarito and Beningo. Ellen is survived by her beloved husband, Ralph Downing of 26 years of Albuquerque; brothers, Dennis Dominguez of El Paso, Albert and Tillie Dominguez of Watrous; sisters, Lucinda Archuleta of Watrous, Angie and husband, Donald LaLiberte of Albuquerque, Bella and husband, LeRoy Pino of Albuquerque, Dolores and husband, Milton Gentry of Watrous, Shirley and husband, Max Gallegos of Watrous and Velma Montoya of Albuquerque. She is also survived by three sisters-in-law, Gladys Levesque, Gloria and husband, Mel Barber and Frances Wright; and many nieces, nephews and Godchildren. Cremation took place and Memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday, February 7, 2003, 9:30 a.m., at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 1818 Coal Place SE. Interment of cremated remains will take place at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. A very special thank you to the Lovelace Hospice Group for all their attention and wonderful care.
