Obituary for Eberwein

John Joseph Eberwein, 74, a resident of Belen, passed away at his home on Monday, February 03, 2003. He was born April 07, 1928 in Clovis, NM. He attended Sacred Heart School until the 12th grade and graduated from Clovis High School in 1946. He went to work for the Santa Fe Railroad as a shop electrician. He then went into the U.S. Navy in October, 1948 during the Korean War until discharged in October, 1952. He married Irene Wallace in Des Moines, IA. on November 29, 1952 celebrating their 50th anniversary last November. He went back to work for the Santa Fe Railroad in Clovis, and in 1964 was promoted and worked in Waynoka, OK., La Junta, CO., and Needles, CA., coming to Belen, NM. as Roundhouse Supervisor in September, 1965 and took an early retirement on November, 1986. John was active at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in Clovis, Holy Name Society and was the 3rd Grand Knight of Clovis Chapter 4205. He was also a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post #2387 in Belen. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Mae Eberwein; and his brothers, Tom of Pueblo and Gene of Clovis. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Irene of the family home in Belen; and his sisters, Ann Marie Caroland of Clovis and Cathy Goodwin and her husband, Martin of Portales, NM. He is also survived by his loving nieces and nephews. Services will take place at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in Clovis with a viewing on Wednesday, February 5, 2003 at 6:30 p.m. followed by a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Mission Garden of Memories Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chuck Glikas, Larry and Eddie Caroland, Steve Kriegshauser, Clark Colson, James O'neill, and Doug McGregor. Romero Funeral Home, 609 N. Main St., Belen, NM.
