Obituary for Barela

Mr. Jose (Pa) Barela, 65, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on January 25, 2003. Mr. Barela is survived by one son, Joey P. Barela and wife, Yolanda; three daughters, Cynthia M. Baca and husband, Mike, Genevieve R. Barela and Marvin Monroy, Debbie A. Pohl and Arthur; three sisters, Helen Perez and husband, Frank, Yolanda Alderete and husband, Paul, Mary Mora and husband, Bernie; four brothers, Felix Barela and wife, Lillian, Leroy Barela, Juan Barela and wife, Sylvia, Orlando Barela and wife, Marcella; his grandchildren, Mike, David, Manuel, Chantelle, Michael, Benny Joe, Gabriel, Amber, Joey Jr. and Jason; his great-grandchildren, Jasmine and Janae; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved him. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose S. Barela. Mr. Barela was a member of the Catholic Church, a Veteran of the U. S. Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. Visitation will be Tuesday evening in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel, 1000 Old Coors Dr. SW from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Louisa Padilla. Final visitation will be Wednesday morning in the Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco morning from 9:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. by Father Manuel Viera. Committal service with honors will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 12:00 noon. Pallbearers will be Mike Baca II, David Green, Manuel Green, Paul Alderete, Orlando Barela and Juan Barela. Honorary Pallbearers will be Benny Joe Barela, Michael J. Green, Andrew Barela, Mike Armijo, Junior Armijo, Andrew Brito, Eloy Montoya, Chris Del Frate, Michael Paul Alderete, John Moya, Mike Esqivel, Tony Fernandez and Mike Green.
