Walter Pickette, 69, a longtime resident of El Rito, NM, passed away quietly after a short illness at the VA Hospital. He is survived by his brother, John Pickette and wife, Anna of Albuquerque; nephew, Jon Scott Pickette and wife, Elisa of San Francisco, CA; nieces, Erika Reynolds and husband, Bill and Stacie Greth, all of Albuquerque; five great-nephews; and two great-nieces; and was preceded in death by longtime companion, Glenn E. Wade y Panebouef. Walter was greatly loved and will be missed by his many friends. He was a gifted artist and designer here in New Mexico and New York City. Walter was a drama professor at the University of Albuquerque, co-owned several art galleries, designed sets and costumes for the Santa Fe Opera, several movies and other theatrical productions. Family and friends would like to thank the nurses, doctors and staff at the VA Hospital for their excellent, professional and loving care. Cremation has taken place and a memorial celebration will be held in the Spring in El Rito, NM. French Mortuary 1111 University Blvd. NE 843-6333
