Obituary for Reese

John H. Reese, born May 11, 1908 in Cleveland, Ohio, died on January 15, 2003, at the age of 94, after a long illness. He moved from Ohio to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1948 with his wife, Margaret and their three daughters. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret, their daughter, Shirley Case; son in-law, Ben Case, and the husband of one of his granddaughters, Glenn Turner. John is survived by his daughters, Margaret Morrison and husband, David, Jean Thomas and husband, Dave; eight grandsons; three granddaughters; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his second wife, Marguerite. He is survived by her son Graham Teschke; her daughter, Linda Crooke and husband, Ray; six step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren. He is survived by a number of special longtime friends, as well. After retiring from Western Electric and AT & T, John worked for Bechtel in Lagos, Nigeria. He enjoyed fishing with his friends and family, gardening, traveling, and tinkering in the garage on one of his many projects. Visitation will be on Friday January 17, 2003 at Strong-Thorne Mortuary 1100 Coal Ave. SE from 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Services will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2003, at 2:00 p.m., in the Palm Chapel at Strong-Thorne Mortuary, with graveside services to follow at Fairview Memorial Park 700 Yale Blvd SE. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Kerry Rhodes, Gene Rhodes, David Thomas, Jon Thomas, Brett Thomas, and Clayton Thomas. The family would like to thank the employees of Manor Care-Camino Vista, for the care and compassion given to John while in their care, and also his loyal and devoted friends. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 215 Locust NE or a charity of your choice. Strong-Thorne Mortuary was entrusted to the care of John.
