Obituary for Hemperley

Helen Hemperley passed away at her home on Friday, January 10, 2003 in Grants, NM. She was 82. She was born on March 21, 1920 to Artie Cohran Burge and John Wesley Burge in Shreveport, Louisiana. Helen married Judson on October 18, 1939 in Magnolia, Arkansas. In 1960, Helen, along with Judson and their four children, moved to New Mexico. Helen was very dearly loved and will be deeply missed by all of her family and friends. Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Judson M. Hemperley, Sr., of the family home in Grants, NM; two sons, Judson M. Hemperley, Jr. and wife, Noreen of Scio, OR and Michael"Skip" E. Hemperley and wife, Billie of Santa Fe, NM; two daughters, Julie Anne Bustamante and partner, Orlando Garcia of Albuquerque, NM and Cheri Jeanne Baisden and husband, David of Bluewater, NM; two brothers, Calvin Burge and wife, Mary of Muleshoe, TX and David Burge and wife, Hattie of Waldo, AR, one sister; Shirley Ann Brown and partner Shawn Stretch of Houma, LA, ten grandchildren and our great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant Baby Hemperley, a younger brother John Donald Burge, both of her parents, and her grandparents. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 12, 2003 at Grants Mortuary Chapel. Funeral Service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 13, 2003 at the First Baptist Church of Grants with the Reverend Hugh Rogers, officiating. Burial will follow at Grants Memorial Park. Pallbearers include Jeremiah Baisden, Isaiah Baisden, Judson Hemperley, Jr., Skip Hemperley, Jerry Hemperley and Jeff Hemperley. Honorary Pallbearers include Calvin Burge, David Burge, Orlando Garcia, Shawn Stretch, Carlos Bustamante, Jason Morgan and Will Ward. Grants Mortuary is entrusted with arrangements.
