Obituary for Powell

Mr. William G. Powell, age 65, a longtime resident of Albuquerque passed away peacefully on January 3, 2003. Mr. Bill fought a long and courageous battle against lung cancer and pulmonary fibrosis. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Nikki Powell; three devoted children, Brenda, William and Susan; his favorite brother-in-law, John Wydra; mother-in-law, Julia Trotter; aunt, Marianna McCuen; and nephews, Jeff Page and Todd Wydra. He dearly loved his furry companions, Sally and Mollie. Mr. Bill also is survived by his many friends and coworkers at Costco and Sara Lee Bakery who truly enriched his life. After 38 years of loyal and totally dedicated service, he retired from Sara Lee Bakery last year. Bill will be remembered as a kind and caring person who was best known for his easy going nature, sense of humor and a big smile. There was not a mean bone in his body. Cremation has taken place and the family extends an invitation for all friends and acquaintances to attend a celebration of his life on Wednesday, January 8, 2003 at Amberly Suites Hotel, 7620 Pan American Frwy, NE, between the hours of 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. The family wishes to thank the Lovelace Hospice for their compassion and care, and especially the nurses and techs at the hospice unit.
