Obituary for Stromberg

Robert Patrick Stromberg passed away April 1, 2003. Son of Gustaf A. Stromberg and Marcella (McMahon) Stromberg,"Bob" was born August 10, 1925 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Bob served as a navigator in the US Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1946. After WWII, Bob attended the University of Minnesota including graduate studies in physics. Bob is survived by his wife of 53 years, Patricia Stromberg and brother Thomas Gustaf Stromberg of Minneapolis. Bob and Pat had 10 children. Bob was preceded in death by sons Joe (1959), John (1954-1975) and Tom (1953-2000). Surviving children include Mary"Hari" Sheppeard, Mark, Ann Mahony, Peter, Paul, James, Marcella; and 21 grandchildren. Bob and Pat were founding members of the Holy Ghost Parish in 1952. Bob worked at Sandia National Labs from 1950-1991. Bob held patents on a weightlessness switch and a solar tracking device. His contributions at Sandia included weapons safing development and starting the solar energy group. Bob shared his time with friends and family in church activities, as well as tinkering, hunting, camping, fishing, golfing and traveling. Bob was ordained as a Deacon in the Catholic Church in 1993 and served the Archdiocese of Santa Fe until his retirement in 2000. A Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, April 6, 2003 and the Funeral will be on Monday, April 7, 2003 at 9:00 a.m. Both Services will be at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 921 Arizona, S.E.
