Obituary for Ortendahl

William Nels Ortendahl, passed away on April 8, 2003. He was born September 27, 1949 at Lockport, Illinois to Floyd Ortendahl and Dorothy Payne. William loved to hunt, fish, and spend time outdoors since childhood and was nicknamed"Wild Bill" by his many friends. He moved to New Mexico with his family more that 30 years ago and graduated from Sandia High School. For several years, he operated a home repair business and also lived in California for a few years. William was very proud of his Scandinavian heritage and often spoke of going to Valhalla in his next life where warriors who die in battle are received. He is survived by his mother, Dorothy; sister, Christine Balizan; niece, Celeste and husband, David Kennedy, other family members, and many close friends. He was preceded in death by his father. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held Wednesday, April 16, 2003, 3:30 p.m. at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel.
