Obituary for Romero

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Tuesday April 15, 2003

Consuelo Romero, also known as"Connie" or"Chelo", age 72, has risen with the Lord on April 14, 2003. Connie was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico on October 22, 1930. She was married to David R. Romero in 1952. A resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico for 48 years she had many many friends. She was a long time Bowler and Avon Representative. Being a parishioner of St. Therese of the Little Flower Church and Our Lady of Guadalupe Church she was a Lector and played an active roll in the Cursillo Movement. Connie enjoyed many things in life from camping and traveling with her young family to her"retirement" year trips with her husband David. She especially enjoyed the long road trips where prayer and quality time took place. She was an avid Lady Lobo Fan and loved to CHEER them on. Her favorite hobby was shopping. She thrived to get a bargain. She always knew what everyone liked and her face would light up when they opened it with the joy she expected she'd see. She loved to take care of her husband, her children, her grandchildren and her mother. In everything she did, she showed love. Everyone she touched she taught Family, Faith, Love, Friendship and so much more. In God's Kingdom she joins her father, Manuel Ortiz; and son-in-law, Joe Estrada. She leaves behind her loving and devoted husband of 50 years, David R. Romero; her mother, Erminia Ortiz; her sons, Raymond, Charley, Michael, and Orlando Romero; her daughters, Rosanne Tena and husband, Richard, Camille Melton and husband, Jeff, and Marcella Gallegos and husband, Ray; grandchildren, Lisa Ortiz and husband, Kenny, Sarah and Adam Melton, Jaimie and Jessica Romero, Jeana Rae, David, Diego and Yleana Gallegos; great-grandson, Isaac Estrada; sisters, Teresa Salazar and husband, Ben, Imelda Rodriguez and husband, Bobby; brothers, Manuel B. Ortiz, Eddie Ortiz and wife, Andrea, and Terry Ortiz and wife, Angel; sisters-in-law, Sr. Josephine and Virginia Romero; and numerous Godchildren; nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you send donations to the St. Vincent De Paul Society in her name.
