Pearl (Schifani) MacKenzie born May 12th 1914 transitioned from this realm at noon, April 13th in Colorado. Pearl was 88 years old. Born in York, Pennsylvania she came to Albuquerque at age three and lived most of her life in New Mexico. A former model, Pearl taught shorthand for many years at the Albuquerque Business College. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley Raymond (WR) MacKenzie and her best friend Patsy Bezmek. She is survived by her three daughters, Dr. Gayle P. MacKenzie and her husband, Bill Logan of Morrison, Colorado, Ms. Ola Mae Romero and her partner, Roger Kleinhaus of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Dr. Gordene O. MacKenzie and her partner, Nancy Nangeroni of N. Reading, Massachusetts; lifelong friends, Ann and Dave Torres, Denise Abbott; two brothers, Daniel Schifani and Ted Schifani; grandchildren, Roxanne Segura, Douglas Romero, Tammie Dembitz, Wendy Craig, and Mark Romero: five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Proud of her Sicilian and Russian heritage, Pearl was known in New Mexico not only for her beauty, but also for her strong spirit, wild infectious laughter, generosity and her beautiful opera voice. Pearl was a"good cooker" and a creative baker who shared food, love and an open house with many. Her bright soul outgrew her physical body which she shed to join the light. You will always be in our hearts. We love and miss you mama. A Rosary will be recited 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, April 15, 2003 in Palm Chapel of Strong-Thorne Mortuary. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 16, 2003 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church with Fr. Francis X. Eggert, Celebrant. Interment will follow Mount Calvary Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers will be Bill Logan, Steve Segura, Roger Kleinhans, Jerry Craig, Mark Romero and Douglas Romero.
