Obituary for Abernathy

Guynelle W."Johnny" Abernathy, 88, a resident of Albuquerque since 1972, died Monday, April 14, 2003. She is survived by her daughters, Mary Calhoun Freedman and husband, Jerry M. of Arlington, VA and Sue Ann Williams and husband, Steven M. of Memphis, TN; granddaughter, Deborah Elder and husband, Scott of Albuquerque; great-grandsons, Samuel Edward Elder and David William Elder; sister, Mary A. Williams of Huntington, WV; and niece and nephew, Barbara Price of Huntington, WV and Hugh M. Williams of Louisville, KY. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, William Calhoun Abernathy. Guynelle and her husband lived in many cities throughout the United States. She was always actively involved with the Federated Women's Club wherever they lived and a member of the Eastern Star. Guynelle thoroughly enjoyed gardening, cooking, antiques, and keeping her daughters in designer quality clothing, as she was a wonderful seamstress. She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church. Services will be held Thursday, April 17, 2003, at 12:00 noon, at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel. Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Friends may visit French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, Wednesday, April 16, 2003, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association, 8100 Mountain Rd.
