Obituary for Sprunk

Joe"Tommy" Sprunk Sr., 65, a lifetime resident of Albuquerque, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2003. Mr. Sprunk is survived by his wife Mabel, the love of his life for the past 47 years; sons, Ric Sprunk and wife Linda, Joe Sprunk Jr., and wife Michelle, Michael Sprunk and Linda, James Sprunk and wife Tanya, Martin Sprunk and wife Nicole; and daughter, Denise Altamirano and husband Donald, all of Albuquerque. Tommy was also survived by 28 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Opal Garcia and Lucille Carrillo. Tommy was born to Joe and Josefita Sprunk in Albuquerque on March 4, 1938. Tommy served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Hancock during the Korean Conflict; and worked in the trucking industry for over 44 years, retiring from Albuquerque Moving & Storage in January of this year. Tommy loved spending time with his wife and family, camping, fishing and an occasional trip to the casino. Rosary will be recited Monday, 7:00 p.m., at Santuario De San Martin Catholic Church, 8321 Camino San Martin SW, with brother A.J. San Francesco reciting. Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, 10:00 a.m., at Santuario De San Martin Catholic Church, with Father James Vance, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE. Pallbearers will be his sons, Ric, Joe, Mike, James, Martin and Donald. Honorary pallbearers will be Wilferd Sprunk, Richard Sprunk Jr., Joseph Sprunk Jr., Dominic Altamirano and Anthony Sedillo.
