Obituary for Ortega

Eduplio"Ed" Ortega, our beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather has gone home to be with our Lord after a brief illness. He passed away on April 18, 2003 at an Albuquerque hospital. He was born on January 18, 1917 and was a lifelong resident of Belen, NM. He was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. He was a retiree from the State Highway Department where he was a heavy equipment operator. Eduplio was preceded in death by his wife, Crucita in 1996. He is survived by four daughters, Lucy Chavez and husband, Filbert of Lemitar, NM; Louisa Baldonado and husband, Art of Belen; Arlene Padilla of Albuquerque, NM; and Bernadette Molina and husband, Lawrence of Jarales, NM; six sons, Eddie and wife, Elizabeth of Pueblitos, NM; Leo of the family home and fiancé, Lorraine Mendoza; Leroy and wife, Peggy of Los Chavez, NM; Jonathan and wife, Tina of McIntosh, NM; Donnie and wife, Aggie of Midland, TX; and Mark and wife, Gloria of Belen; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren to be born soon; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Lola Grice and husband, Jim of Albuquerque; Alice Hall and husband, Bill of San Antonio, TX; Didio Salas and wife, Ann of Albuquerque; and Lena Salas, wife of the late Albino Salas, Jr. of Bernardo, NM. He is also survived by many loving relatives and friends. All services will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. A viewing will be held on Monday, April 21, 2003 at 5:30 p.m. followed by a Rosary at 6:00 pm.. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 22, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers include all of his six cherished sons, Eddie, Leo, Leroy, Jonathan, Donnie, and Mark Ortega. Honorary pallbearers will be his three sons-in-law, Art Baldonado, Lawrence Molina, and Filbert Chavez. Romero Funeral Home 609 N. Main St. Belen, NM.
