Obituary for Gutierrez

Louis P. (Louie) Gutierrez,79, formerly of Las Vegas, NM, passed away in Albuquerque on April 22, 2003.¯ He was born in Dilia, NM to Francisco and Adela Sanchez Gutierrez.¯ Louie was a WW II veteran.¯ He married Helen Crespin of Chaperito on June 11, 1953 and they made thier¯home in Hammond, IN where he worked as a crane operator for Inland Steel Mills for 30 years, and he retired in 1978 and moved back to Las Vegas, NM where he resided until recently when he became ill.¯ Louie¯ was a long time member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Las Vegas. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen, of 32 years, on May 26, 1985; his parents, and¯three brothers, Arthur, Tony, and Mike.¯ He is survived by his second wife, Hazel, of Las Vegas, NM;¯daughter, Terri Grimm and husband, Jim of Wichita, KS; sisters, Evelyn Lovato and husband, Tony of Rio Rancho, Margaret Page and husband, Abel of Albuquerque; brothers, Raymond and wife, Annabelle of Santa Fe, Benito and wife, Carmen of Albuquerque; sisters-in-law, Anna Gutierrez of Rio Rancho, Loretta Gutierrez of Seattle, WA, and Ramona Gutierrez of Santa Rosa, brother-in-law, and sister-in-law, Gilbert and Rose Montoya of Las Vegas; also many nephews, nieces, cousins and close friends that all loved him very much and will miss him. Funeral services are in Las Vegas, NM, under the direction of Nelson Funeral Home.¯ A Rosary will be recited on Sunday, April 27, 2003 at 7:00 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Las Vegas.¯ The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 28, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Interment will be at 2:30 PM at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe.¯ In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Louie's name to the Alzheimer's Association, New Mexico Chapter, 8100 Mountain Rd. NE, Suite 102, Albuquerque, NM 87110. A Memorial Mass will¯be held at a later date at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Rio Rancho.
