Obituary for Fresquez

Amalia Fresquez, age 94, passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2003 at an Albuquerque hospital surrounded by her loving family. Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother went home to be with our Lord after a brief illness. She was born in El Carmen, New Mexico on June 30, 1908 to Narciso Fresquez and Isabelita Moncallo. She lived in El Carmen and worked as a cook for the Mora Independent Schools. She also served as a Mayordoma of Mt. Carmen Church in El Carmen, NM. She later moved to Albuquerque, NM where she lived until the time of her death. She was preceded in death by her parents, Narciso Fresquez and Isabelita Mocayo; one brother, Conrado Valdez; two sisters, Anita Trujillo and Maria Vigil; two sons, Guillermo Abeyta and Nazario Esquibel Jr.; two daughters, Susie Sandoval and Glorianne Robinson; three grandchildren: Phillip Vogel, Roger Robinson, and Loretta Mora; one great-grandchild, Steve Sandoval. She is survived by sons, Paul Abeyta and wife, Delia from Cheyenne, Wyoming, Narciso Abeyta and wife, Georgia from Casper, Wyoming, Felipe Esquibel from Ledoux, NM; daughters, Grace Mora and husband, Leroy from Leadville, Colorado, Rose Gallegos and husband, Ernie from Albuquerque, NM, Lorraine Torres and husband, Carlos from Bernalillo, NM, Judy Sandoval and husband, Tino from Leadville, Colorado; a great-niece, Beatrice Hurtado and husband, Elias from Holman, NM whom she loved like a daughter. She is also survived by 23 grandchildren; 43 great - grandchildren; and 23 great - great - grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, quilting, and caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Rosary devotional services will be conducted at Rogers Mortuary on Tuesday, May 6, 2003 at 7:00 p.m., with Bercy Espinoza praying the Rosary. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 7, 2003 at 9:00 a.m. at Mt. Carmen Church in El Carmen, NM with Father Tien-Tri Nguyen officiating. Christian Burial will follow at the El Carmen Cemetery with the following serving as casket bearers: Willie Abeyta, Jesus Gallegos, John Mora, Wesley Sandoval, Marvin Sandoval, and Eugene Martinez. Honorary Bearers are Chris Gonzales, and Gilbert Abeyta. Eulogy will be read by Beatrice Hurtado and other grandchildren.
