George Ellis born December 20, 1921 in Minneapolis, MN, died March 16, 2003 in San Diego, CA. George arrived in Albuquerque in 1960 and was the Exec. VP of the Bank of New Mexico located on Central Ave. In 1962, George along with Jim Simmons and Bart Darrow opened the American Bank of Commerce on a corner in downtown Albuquerque. He resigned from American Bank of Commerce and went to the Bank of California in Los Angeles and later San Diego where he was President of the La Jolla Bank and Trust which was sold to Security Bank in 1986. George is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carol; son, Jim of San Marino, CA and Mark of Memphis, TN; daughter, Chris Butler of Albuquerque; brother, Tad Ellis of Tacoma, WA; and nine grandchildren.
