Obituary for Perea

Leo J. Perea passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2003 at Albuquerque Regional Medical Center with his immediate family by his side until his final breath. Mr. Perea is preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Valdes Perea; parents, Florencio T. Perea Sr. and Plajeres Perea; brother, Florencio T. Perea Jr.; sister, Ruth Perea; and nephew, Gery R. Garcia. He is survived by his sister, Julia (Mrs. Roman) Garcia; sister, (Mrs. Iker) Liz Lucero; nephew, Ernest G. Garcia; niece, (Mrs. J.R.) Tanya Garcia Steffan; niece, Francine Garcia; and many cousins. Mr. Perea was a member of the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. He served in the National Guard then joined the U.S. Navy. He acquired his Master's Degree in Business Administration. He went on to own and manage International Tracing and Process Services in Albuquerque for many years and then went on to manage Collection Factors Agency. Later he moved to Palo Alto, California, San Francisco and was Banker for Fireside Thrift Savings and Loan Association in Palo Alto for many years before retiring and moving back to Albuquerque. He was very outgoing and loved barbecuing and gourmet cooking for many friends. Leo will be remembered as a jolly good fellow who would give you his shirt off his back and keep you laughing. The family wishes to thank all of the doctors, nurses and staff at Albuquerque Specialty Care Center and at Albuquerque Regional Medical Center, especially, Dr. Amir R. Khan for his excellent performance and care of Leo. What a great team they are and friends. Also to the wonderful and fast performance of the Salazar & Sons Mortuary. We thank you.
