Obituary for Owsley

R. J. Owsley, 76, passed away at his Albuquerque home Wednesday, May 21, 2003, in the loving arms of his family. He was born Thursday, April 21, 1927 in Goodman, MO. Mr. Owsley served in the US Navy during WWII and made Albuquerque his home for most of his life. RJ and his family lived in Grants, NM for 10 years while he worked for Anaconda. He later worked as an auditor for the Department of Agriculture until he retired in 1994. After retiring, he and his wife, Tina, enjoyed motoring throughout the United States. He was a gifted ceramic ware artist. Mr. Owsley is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Tina; three sons, Randy and wife, Kathy, of Albuquerque, NM, Alan and wife, Linda, of Phoenix, AZ and Wayne and wife, Sharon, of Grapevine, TX; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He is also survived by Robert"Bo" Bowen, who was like a son to him, and wife, Kate. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Ray and Dona Owsley and a brother, Jack. Services will be held Saturday, May 24, 2003, 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE with Pastor Jim Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE.
