Obituary for Austin

Thomas Edward Austin, passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2003 in Albuquerque. He was born on August 6, 1946 in Houston, TX, and was a 1964 graduate of Linden-Kildare Consolidated High School, Linden, TX. He served his country during the Vietnam Conflict in the U.S. Navy from 1964-1968. He was the son of Nell Woods Austin Hancock and the late Henry Edward Austin. He is survived by his mother; his wife, Linda Ragland Austin; and a son, Travis Woods Austin. Also surviving are sisters, Hilda Doty and Vicki Head as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and he was"Grandpa" to Spencer Doty. A brother, Timothy Lloyd Austin passed earlier. Tom ("Old Crow Dog") was Vice President and General Mgr. Of Gatewood Millwork in Albuquerque. He was a founding member of the Cabinet Makers Assn., a member of the Architectural Woodwork Institute and a member of the Lumbee Tribe of the Cherokee Nation. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, 10:00 a.m., at Calvary Chapel of Albuquerque, 4001 Osuna Rd. NE, with a reception following at the church. Interment of cremains will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery. A memorial fund for Tom Austin has been established at First State Bank. French Mortuary 1111 University Blvd. NE 843-6333
