Obituary for Romero

Carmen V. Romero, beloved and devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend was called home to be with the Lord our Savior, Tuesday, May 27, 2003, while surrounded by her loving family. Carmen was born on May 11, 1922 to the late Agapito and Aurelia Vigil. She was preceded in death by her husband Jose T. Romero in 2001; and two sons, Mark and Paul Romero. Carmen was a loving and caring person who enjoyed the simply things in life, like cooking home-made tortillas, pies, bread all of her family's favorites; and especially spending time with her family. Carmen is survived by her loving children, Johnny Vigil and wife, Laura, Mary Lou Lucero, Joe (Pete) A. Romero, Rosie M. Romero, Frances M. Martinez and husband, Michael, and Leroy H. Romero; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren. Also surviving are, one brother Eugenio Vigil and wife, Martina; one sister, Elsie Trujillo and husband, Gregorio; sister-in-laws, Frances Vigil and Ramona Vigil; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Carmen will be greatly missed by her loving family and by those who knew and loved her. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Becky Campbell from Heritage, UNM Hospital staff, Presbyterian Ana Kaseman Hospice staff, Senior Affairs of the town of Bernalillo, and to her very dear friend, Margaret Ortiz for the kindness, care and love given to Carmen. Visitations will be held Thursday from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Alameda Mortuary; where a rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Bernalillo, NM, with Fr. Anthony Bolman as celebrant. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 12:00 p.m. Casket bearers will be Johnny S. Vigil, Jr., Albert Noriega, Antonio Lujan, Demecio Lucero, Michael Noriega, and Mark Jacob Romero, Jr. Honorary bearers will be Aben Lucero, Christopher Romero, Joseph Romero, and Joshua Romero.
