Obituary for Olguin

Angela T. Olguin, 83, died Monday, May 26, 2003 in Denver, CO. She is survived by her daughters, Carol Olguin Ochoa and husband, William of Mexico City, Jane Olguin Ruska and husband, Lee of Annapolis, MD, Margaret Olguin Abbate and husband, James of Denver, CO, Ann Olguin Weatherson and husband, James of Los Angeles, CA; sons, John Olguin and wife, Linda of Rockville, MD and Lawrence Olguin and wife, Sheila of Richland, WA; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Jenkins and wife, Marge of Beaver, UT; sisters, Bernadette Avila of Albuquerque, Evelyn Martin of Billings, MT, Ruth Parker of San Francisco, CA, and Louella Draper of San Diego, CA; and son-in-law, William Robinson of Philadelphia, PA. Mrs. Olguin was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Manuel P. Olguin, and daughter, Alicia (Hita) Olguin Robinson. Mrs. Olguin graduated with a B.S. in Education from the University of Albuquerque in 1951 where she was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa (Teachers' Sorority) and received her Masters Degree in Elementary Administration from the University of New Mexico in 1965. She was an educator for 43 years, nine of which were as Principal for Central Elementary School in Los Lunas and Assistant Principal for one year at Los Lunas Middle School. Mrs. Olguin was awarded Principal of the Year in 1983 by the faculty and staff of Raymond A. Gabaldon Elementary School, formerly Central School, in Los Lunas. She was an Associate Professor from an Jose State College in the Dominican Republic for two years as an Elementary Specialist Curriculum Advisor. The following year she served as an Elementary Teacher at the American School in El Salvador. Rosary will be recited Friday, 7:00 p.m., at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 1818 Coal Pl. SE, with Kathy Garcia reciting. Mass will be celebrated Saturday, 9:30 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with Father Joseph Tran Thai, S.S.S., Celebrant. Interment will take place Monday at Santa Fe National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made payable to Los Lunas Schools, care of Claire Cieremans, accounting supervisor, P.O.
