Obituary for Chavez

Joe Nester Chavez Sr., age 67, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother was welcomed into the arms of our Lord our Savior, after a short illness, on Sunday, June 15, 2003, while surrounded by his loving family. Joe Nester was a long time resident of Barelas, and a parishioner of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church. He is preceded in death by his parents Filomeno and Elsie Chavez. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Mary Alice Chavez of the family home; his children, Joe Nester Chavez Jr. and wife Angela; daughter JoAnna Mondragon, and husband Robert; four granddaughters, Jessica Mullen, and husband Bryce; Claudette Chavez, Donna Chavez, Angelica Chavez; great-granddaughters, Aspen and Joi, all of Albuquerque. Also surviving are his brothers, Ruben Chavez and wife Bea; Robert Chavez, Ron Chavez and wife Alice, Freddie Chavez, Phil Chavez and wife Diane; four sisters, Eileen Chavez; Vivian Pohl and husband Mike; Agnes Aragon and husband John; Diane Dominguez and husband Robert; and numerous nieces, nephews, other loving relatives, friends, as well as all his car sales buddies. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church. With a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary. Interments will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Casket bearers will be Robert Mondragon, Bryce Mullen, Freddie Chavez, Phil Chavez Jr., Michael Pohl, and Gene Baca Sr. Honorary bearers will be Ruben Chavez, Gabby Gabaldon, Ron Chavez and Robert Boykie Chavez.
