Obituary for Barcord

Charles Robert Barncord, 83, a resident of Albuquerque for over 40 years, passed away May 22, 2003 after a valiant struggle with cancer. Marguerite Barncord, his loving wife of 57 years, passed away February 2, 1999. He is survived by his son, Gary Barncord and wife, Dolores of Minden, NE; his daughter, Linda Barncord and husband, Frank Geick of Emerald Hills, CA; his granddaughters, Kenneta Kraemer of Aurora, CO, and Inde Barncord Wissing and husband, Chris of Kearney, NE; his great-granddaughter, Lacy Kraemer of Aurora, CO; and sister, Norma Owen and husband, Jack of Sun Lakes, AZ. Charles"Bob" married Marguerite October 1941 in Whitewater, KS. After the outbreak of WWII, Bob entered the Army and studied engineering at Ohio State University. In 1944, they moved to Los Alamos when Bob was selected to work on the Manhattan Project and where Marguerite served as a registered nurse. After the war concluded, Bob completed his ME degree in May 1949 at the University of New Mexico, while continuing to work for University of CA on Sandia Base. In November 1949, he joined Sandia National Laboratory where he worked in Albuquerque, NM and Livermore, CA until his retirement as Controller, in May 1982. Bob and Marguerite traveled extensively after his retirement and were active members of the Monte Vista Christian Church. Cremation has taken place and Bob was laid to rest with his beloved wife, Marguerite at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2003, 1:30 p.m. at the Monte Vista Christian Church, 3501 Campus Blvd. NE, with Reverends Fred Dorisse and Michelle Tatlock officiating. The family requests those wishing to remember Bob make memorial contributions, to the Monte Vista Christian Church.
