Obituary for Ortiz

Juan L. Ortiz, age 72, a resident of El Pino, New Mexico and former resident of Pecos, New Mexico passed away on Monday, June 23, 2003 at his home following a sudden illness. He was born in Pecos, New Mexico on March 30, 1931 to the late Celestino Ortiz and Cleofas Lujan Ortiz. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict as a Private l(P). He was awarded the Korean Service Medal w/2 bronze service stars and the UN Service Medal. He was preceded in death by his Parents: Celestino and Cleofas Ortiz; Wife: Maria Candida Ortiz. He is survived by his Brother: Mariano Ortiz and wife Clora of Pecos, NM; Sisters: Priscilla Lopez and husband Antonio of Pecos, NM and Silveria Martinez and husband Eugenio of Albuquerque, NM; Aunt: Lourdes L. Roybal of Lakewood, California; Cousins: Jane Lujan and husband Joe"Lucas" of Las Vegas, NM; Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Cremation has taken place and rosary devotional services will be conducted on Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the St. Anthony's Church in Pecos. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Anthony's Church in Pecos with Father Leo Ortiz as Celebrant. Interment will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
