Obituary for Lucero

Antonio"Tony" Lucero 92, a long time resident of Albuquerque, died Tuesday, June 24, 2003. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Eloisa Lucero of Albuquerque; sons, Salvador Lucero of El Paso, TX, Arthur Lucero and wife, Adela of Cuba, NM, Eduardo Lucero and wife, JoAnn, and Richard Lucero, all of Albuquerque; stepdaughter, Mary Padilla and husband, Carlos of Espanola, NM; grandsons, Anthony Lucero and wife, Heather, Christopher Lucero and wife, Anna, Robert Lucero and Steven Lucero, all of Cuba, NM and John Lucero of Albuquerque; granddaughters, Doreen Romero and husband, Anthony of Seboyeta, NM, Denise Padilla of Espanola, NM, and Rebekah Lucero of Albuquerque; six great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Ramirez and husband, Jesus of Venice, CA; and brother, Daniel Lucero and wife, Veronica of Duncan, AZ. Mr. Lucero was preceded in death by his son, Antonio Lucero, Jr. He was a WWII veteran having served 36 months in the Pacific Theatre. Mr. Lucero worked for many years at the physical plant at UNM, and liked to be known as the last classic Texan cowboy. Rosary will be recited Thursday, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel with Gabriella Nieto reciting. Mass will be celebrated Friday, 9:00 a.m., at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary, 5415 Fortuna NW, with Father Joel Garner O. Pream, celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
