Obituary for Newman

Lena Luvany Davidson Buttram Newman passed away at Albuquerque Manor on July 11, 2003 at the age of 90. She was born at Plain, Quay County, NM on April 18, 1913 to John Carlton and Elizabeth L. Rector Davidson. She married Avis Artie Buttram on October 1, 1927 in Texas. Living in Forrest, NM they raised four children, Arlie Fay, Philip Alvin, Neil Oscar and Betty Lou. Avis passed away in 1948. Lena later married Curtis George Newman they lived in Tucumcari, NM and raised their son, George Curtis Newman. Lena spent her life in Forrest and Tucumcari working as a sales clerk. An independent lady, she was very self-reliant until failing health forced her to move to Albuquerque to be near her family. She is survived by her children, Arlie F. Allen, Philip A. Buttram, Neil O. Buttram and George C. Newman; also surviving are her brothers, John Clint Davidson, Lester G. Davidson, James E. Davidson and Clarence A."Dave" Davidson; and her sister, Ima Jean Roady. There are also nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding Lena in death were her parents; daughter, Betty Lou Kelly; and her sister, Daisy B. Givens. Memorial Services for Lena will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at Aspen Funeral Alternatives at 1935 Juan Tabo, NE Albuquerque, NM.
