Obituary for Meeks

Royce Lee Meeks, 62, passed from life July 14, 2003. He was born on August 13, 1940 in Ojito, New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oley and Anne (Dugger) Meeks; and a brotherm George. He is survived by his wifem Nancy of 42 years; sons, Randy (wife, Terry), of Las Cruces NM, and Carl (wife, Jana-Lee) of Llaves NM; seven grandchildren, Tori, Jessica, Christopher, Korina, Paul, Justin, and Avery. He is also survived by three brothers and four sisters, Bernie (wife, Michelle), of Farmington NM, Orlan (wife, Neva) of Blanco, NM and Lee (wife, Barbara) of Brawley California, Patricia Johnson of Bloomfield NM, Melba Ingram (husband, James), of Cuba NM, Faye Freelove of La Jara NM, and Reva Case (husband Pat) of Edgewood NM. In addition numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends, survive him. Royce lived his entire life in the Cuba/Llaves area. He was employed by Benson-Montin-Greer Drilling Company of Farmington NM for thirty-seven years, where he enjoyed a special relationship with Al Greer. Royce loved hunting, riding horses and team roping with his son Carl. He was a member of the USTRC. He was very proud of his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a true friend to all that knew him, and was always ready to lend a helping hand. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday July 18th 2003, at the Lindrith Baptist Church, with Pastor Capehart officiating.
