Obituary for Davis

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Thursday July 17, 2003

Deana Davis, 79, died peacefully in the early hours of July 14, 2003 after a prolonged bout with lung cancer and dementia. While her loved ones mourn the loss of their beloved Deana, they also find comfort in knowing that she is now free in the blessed hereafter and not confined to a body which no longer served her beautiful spirit in this life. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Hall Davis. She will be deeply missed by her devoted husband of 49 years, Errol Davis; and their loving son, Fred Davis both of Albuquerque. Additionally, Deana is survived by her sister, Mary Coutts of Lazear, CO; brother, Frank Durbin and his wife, Joann of Bentonville, AR; sister-in-law, Joyce and her husband, Jerry of Budzilowski of Tallahassee, FL; four grandchildren, Michael Davis, Jr., Debra Lynch and husband, James all of Albuquerque, Morgan Davis and wife, Pamela of Dallas, TX and Rachel Blanco of Santa Fe, TX. Deana always felt she was not a whole person unless she was contributing her many skills and talents toward the good of others. It was through her work that she felt complete and although employed in various positions over the years, all of the jobs she held shared a common thread, they involved working with people. She was held in high esteem by her coworkers due to her outgoing and giving nature, moreover, Deana had a wonderful sense of humor which was fostered by her keen insight into human nature. When not working she was an avid reader of fiction novels until her illnesses prevented it. Services will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery Chapel. A Visitation will take place in the chapel during the hour preceding the Service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the health charity of your choice.
