Obituary for Gutierrez

Anna L. Gutierrez, 90, a resident of Rio Rancho and formerly of Las Vegas, NM and Santa Fe, passed away on Saturday, June 19, 2003 in Rio Rancho. Anna was born in Roy, NM on February 6, 1913. Her parents Tom and Guadalupe Griego-McGrath were the former King and Queen of the Santa Fe Trail. Anna lived in New Mexico for most of her adult life, however during WWII she lived in Northern California where she worked in the shipyards. She was a loving mother to seven children and over 30 grandchildren. Most of her working years as a recreational therapist at the Forensic Unit at the New Mexico State Hospital, in Las Vegas, NM. A lifelong Catholic, Anna was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Las Vegas and St. Bernadette's in Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Gutierrez; parents; sister, Della Sanchez; and brother, Tom McGrath Jr. Anna is survived by her son, Lester Gutierrez of Albuquerque; daughter, June Baca and husband, Henry of Rio Rancho, Celeste Jeantrelle and husband, Phill of Atlanta, Georgia; daughter, Laura Garcia and husband, Tony of Albuquerque; son, Michael Branch of San Jose, Costa Rica. Anna is also survived by sisters, Cora Maloof-McGrath of Albuquerque, Helen Partridge of California, Mary Antonelli of Richmond, VA and Dolores and Tom Beach of Hastings, FL. Special grandchildren to Anna are Jeremy Aragon and wife, Vanessa of Rio Rancho, Jerika Baca of Rio Rancho, Crystal Gutierrez-Baca and husband, Dickie of Albuquerque, Michelle Gutierrez of Florence, Italy, Annette Gutierrez of Rio Rancho, and Kenneth Gutierrez of Pueblo, CO. Rosary Services will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday night at Immaculate Conception Church. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday morning at 9:00 a.m. also from Immaculate Conception Church with Father Vincent Chavez as Celebrant Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, Jeremy Aragon, Dickie Baca, Henry Baca, Benito Gutierrez, Kenneth Gutierrez and Raymond Gutierrez. Honorary bearers will be Les Gutierrez, Timo Valerio, Macario Gonzales, George Maloof Jr., and Lupe Trujillo.
