Obituary for Gay

James W. Gay died August 15, 2003 at his home following a lengthy illness, he was 50. Born in Albuquerque, Mr. Gay graduated from Del Norte High School in 1970. In 1979, he graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a degree in Ocean Engineering. He has resided in Marblehead for the past 19 years. Mr. Gay worked for General Electric, Lynn as a gear program manager. he was a member of GE Elfun Volunteers, American Society of Naval Engineers, the Navy League and the Surface navy Association. Prior to engineering, he worked in New Mexico as a skilled carpenter building custom homes. As a dedicated father, Mr. Gay was an active member of the Yankee Clipper Council, BSA Marblehead Pack/Troop 79. He coached and was a board member of Marblehead Youth Soccer. He liked traveling with his family, his Newfoundland dog, Glover and watching westerns. He could fix anything! Mr. Gay is survived by his wife of 24 years, Betsy (Loewenherz); daughter, Abigail; two sons, Jonathan and Timothy all of Marblehead, MA. He was the son of the late James W. Gay and Gladys (Oberle) Gay of Albuquerque. He leaves his uncle, Don and aunt, Gretchen Mulder; uncle, David and aunt, Ilse Gay of Albuquerque; uncle, Charlie Gay of Pennsylvania and aunt, Charlotte Truog of New Jersey; as well as their extended families. A Memorial Service was held on August 18, 2003 at Stanetsky-Hymanson Memorial Chapel, Salem, MA. Memorial Observance was held in his late residence August 18, 2003 through the 20th.
