Dr. Darrel Rains, former beloved pastor of Sandia Baptist Chruch went to be with the Lord, August 1, 2003, he was 57 years old. Darrel's life can be summarized in verse 7 of II Timothy, Chapter 4"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." Darrel was born to Ray and Mary Rains August 10, 1945 in Okemah, OK. For 35 years he pastored various Baptist churches in Oklahoma, New Mexico and Texas. He is survived by his wife, Suzanne, and their two children Nathan Rains and wife, Betsy; Amy and husband, Mark Wood; two grandchildren Madison and Taylor Rains; father and stepmother, Ray and Ethel Rains; sister and brother-in-law, Rae Ellen and husband, James Heinzig; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Mary Rains and brother George Rains. Services took place on Monday, August 4, 2003 at Casa View Baptist church in Dallas, TX.
