Obituary for Busch

Alicia"Rhen" Busch, 47, died on August 23, 2003. She was born to Bill and Jo DeBolt in 1955 in Tulsa, OK. A graduate of Jenks High School, Jenks, OK where she was an honor student, she continued her education by attending Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, OK, receiving a Bachelors of Science Degree in Secondary Education in 1977. She began her teaching career in Duncan, OK, teaching 7th grade Social Studies and volunteering with the Big Sister organization. From 1978 to 1980 she taught high school psychology, sociology and American History in Claremore, OK. Rhen married Daryl Busch in Tulsa, OK in 1980, and they moved to Grants, NM where Rhen was the Assistant Librarian at the New Mexico State University Grants Branch Library. Moving to Albuquerque in 1981, Rhen worked at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Library until 1994 when she became the Librarian supervising Collection Management Unit at the Rio Rancho Public Library. During this time through Distance Education, she received her Masters Degree in Library Science from Emporia State University, Emporia, KS. Her"dream job" became a reality in August 2002 when she began working as the Library Media Specialist at Rio Rancho High School and participated in a district-wide Literacy Cadre. Rhen was a member of the American Library Association, a licensed Secondary Library Media Specialist, gave introductory Internet lessons to Rio Rancho Public School teachers and participated in the creation of the Rio Rancho Public Schools Library Curriculum. Rhen was a member of First Baptist Church of Rio Rancho where she was active in the Sunday School Department as a teacher, Information Center head, and Church Librarian. Rhen loved the Lord, her family, people, education, learning, books, and reading. She was preceded in death by her father, Bill DeBolt, in 1996. Rhen is survived by her husband, Daryl Busch of Rio Rancho; mother, Jo DeBolt of Tulsa, OK; children, Stephanie Genelle Busch and Stewart Wade Busch; sister, Gwen Bayhylle and husband, Maurice of Glenpool, OK; and brother, Bud DeBolt and wife, Lisa of Broken Arrow, OK. Two aunts, an uncle, four nieces, two nephews, two great-aunts, a great-uncle and several loving cousins also survive. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Rio Rancho with Pastor Si Budagher officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in Rhen's memory be given to the Rio Rancho High School Library, 301 Loma Colorado, Rio Rancho, NM 87124.
