Obituary for Boyd

Hershel Winferd Boyd, 85, a longtime resident of Albuquerque and formerly of Aztec, NM, passed away on Monday, April 7, 2003. Hershel was born March 23, 1918 the son of Oliver"Tobe" and Irene Baskett Boyd in Summerville, Missouri. He had been a carpenter in the commercial construction business before he retired. Hershel served in the US Navy during WWII. He was a member of the UnitedBrotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners, Local #1319; Life member of the Good Sam RV Club.He took great pride and joy in his work and his family. Hershel remembered all his grandchildren's birthdays and was faithful to attend all their activities. He was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Agnes"Babe" Boyd in 1991; and his daughter and son-in-law, Anita and Everett Poe. Hershel is survived by one sister, Lucille B. Hardman ofAztec, NM; one niece, Karlene Hughes and husband, Jerry of Farmington, NM; one nephew, Howard Hardman and wife Cindy of Aztec, NM; six grandchildren, Everett Poe of Albuquerque, Wynonna Griego of Muskogee, OK, Avis Poe of Rio Rancho, NM, Carol Poe-Campos and husband Almondo of Sun Valley, CA, Robert Poe and wife DeeAnn of Redfield, AR, and Janet Baca and husband John of Los Lunas, NM; 12 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and five great-nephews and nieces. There will be two services held for Hershel, the first service will be held on Thursday, April10, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. with a Visitation at 1:00 p.m. at Cope Memorial Chapel in Aztec, NM with Pastor Tom Dierdorf officiating. Thesecond servicewill be held on Friday, April 11, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. with a Visitation at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd. atMeadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho with Pastor Rick Donaho officiating.
