Obituary for Knearl

Homer L. Knearl, 96, a resident of Rio Rancho since 1972, passed away on April 6, 2003. He is survived by his wife, Inez J. Knearl of Rio Rancho; daughter, Betty Zimmerman of Rio Rancho; son, Homer Lee Knearl of Superior, CO; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Velma Knearl of Wichita, KS and Cora Belle Hall of Fort Collins, CO; one nephew, John Hall of Denver, CO. He was preceded in death by six brothers. Homer was a member of First United Methodist Church in Albuquerque and was their Finance Chairman for six years and also taught Sunday school for 25 years. He was president of Rio Rancho Homeowners Association and President of the Albuquerque Northwest Lions Club. Homer was chairman of the First Study Committee for the Incorporation of Rio Rancho. He started as a Service Station Dealer in Winfield, Kansas and advanced through many sales and management positions to the corporate headquarters at the Chrysler Building in New York City and retired in 1970 after 37 years with Texaco Inc. Homer had been very active in civic and community affairs in Rio Rancho since arriving here in 1972. Service will take place on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 314 Lead SW. Burial will follow at Vista Verde Cemetery, 4310 Sara Rd. SE, Rio Rancho. Memorial contributions may be made to Rio Rancho Lions Club, Hearing Assistance Program, P.O.
