Obituary for Ryan

Charles Daniel Ryan, age 63, died Monday, April 7, 2003 in Albuquerque. He is survived by his wife, Susan Ely Ryan; his mother, Opal Ryan of Hawley, TX; two brothers, Robert Ryan and wife, JLyn of Runnaway Bay, TX and Harold Ryan and wife, Cheri of Austin, TX; a niece, Stephanie Waldo and husband, Joey of Loop, TX; two nephews, Robin Ryan and wife, Cynthia of Grapevine, TX and Derek Ryan of Austin, TX. Charlie is also survived by four great-nephews; one great-niece; one aunt, Ruth Caffey of Abilene, TX; and one uncle, Wilmer Pelton and wife, Geraldine of Colorado Springs, CO. He was preceded in death by his father, R.Q. Ryan. Charlie earned a B.A. degree from Hardin-Simmons University in 1963 and an M.A. degree from the University of New Mexico. He taught in the Albuquerque Public Schools for 25 years, served as President of the Albuquerque Classroom Teachers Association and was on the New Mexico Educational Retirement Board, as well as being on numerous committees within the local, state and national Education Associations. Charlie was a realtor for 14 years in Albuquerque and also worked with his wife in a wholesale jewelry business before they retired last year. Square dancing, country western dancing and spending time with friends and family were important factors in his life. Memorial services will be held Thursday, April 10, 2003, at 4:30 p.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel.
