Obituary for ORTEGA

Mr. Frank S. "Jelly" Ortega died Wednesday, September 03, 2003 in Albuquerque at the age of 77. Mr. Ortega was a lifelong resident of Albuquerque. He was born and lived in Old Town. He was a good husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a semi-pro baseball player and a Senior softball player. Honored with an induction into the State Hall of Fame, Mr. Ortega also competed in the Senior Olympics and received a Silver Medal. He was a avid outdoorsman, hunting and fishing were among his passions. He was also an oil painter. Mr. Ortega was a World War II Navy Veteran and served two hitches. He is preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Ramona Ortega. Surviving relatives include his wife, Maria Dolores Ortega; sons, Anthony R. Gonzales, Frank I. Ortega and wife, Nancy, Enriquiez Hank Ortega and wife, Angie; daughters, Loretta A. Garcia and husband, Tom, and Rosarita D. Archuleta and husband, Anthony; sister, Angela O. Chavez and husband, Joe; brothers, Theodore Ortega and wife, Genieve, and David Ortega; 11 grandchildren;three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Mr. Ortega will be held on Friday, September 5, 2003 at San Felipe De Neri Catholic Church where the Mass will be celebrated at 8:30 a.m. Burial will take place at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. A Reception will follow. Pallbearers will be Francisco Ortega, J.T. Garcia, Manuel Ortega, Aaron Archuleta, Salvador Gonzales and Theodore Ortega.
